On the treaty that was before the lisbon treaty we had in luxembourg a referendum too. Though, it wasn't necessary in lux, the politians organized one to see the mood of the people and they would ratifi it if we voted yes. They did, and now, after 2 treatys, europe is still fucked.
Note: I do not know what exactly is written in the treaty.

This is fundamentally the same treaty that the French and Danish voted against in 2004 / 2005 I think. This time around, they weren't given the chance to vote. Their Governments just said yes.
I think voting no is a good thing. Most of us are not against Europe. But the treaty was unacceptable in it's current form.

To be honest, I'm not even sure if my reasons are valid anymore.
Listening to the radio all day today both sides are saying that the other side were lying about there reasons to vote a particular way.
My reasons [valid or not]
* I don't agree with a permanent president.
* I don't agree with member states being "locked" out for 5 years in the rotation. Every member state should be included every year.
* I don't agree with the French minister [among others] bullying us into voting yes. He said that we will suffer if we vote no. So much for a democracy that Europe is trying to promote.
* I don't agree with the back door clause that allows the European officials to change anything after the Lisbon Treaty without requiring Ireland to hold a referendum.
* There are more but I can't think of them just now

are they about to have a second referendum? i'm not really familiar with any details, but is a "hey, lets do another one until everyone's voting yes"- kinda way justified? wouldn't be very democratic anymore, would it?

Irelands Government had a second reforendum last time, at the Nice Treaty. The Government learned their leson on that one and WILL NOT have a second one for Lisbon. The Treaty is gone as far as Ireland are concerned. It has to be re-negotiated again or dump us out of Europe.
Not very pro democratic, is it? Europ is all pro choice, until your choice is different to theirs.
