You Germans really got no luck with your stupid politicians. Crying or Very sad

www.computerbase.de/ne...ielverbot/

So basically in Germany it will be soon forbidden to own "0" and "1" that display red pixels.

Instead the people are encouraged to switch to real life Counter Strike and buy real weapons, which is not that big of a problem, and kill each other.

Also a rumor says that a substance called alcohol, that can be deadly, is legal in that country.

and trash movies like the SAW series are perfectly accepted.
but this won't change a thing for the pc consumers, except that they won't spend any more money on their games but rather illegally download them on the interwebz.

totally non sense, those numbfucks have no idea and it's so obvious.
we, as gamers, can relate and judge over this better as we know more about how gaming and a gamer's mindset works. what saddens me the most is that, imagine those politicians, they take decisions like this everyday in all sorts of domains of which they don't have a fucking clue about.
pretty scary stuff if you ask me.

and i'm planning on studying in this way too organized country. the german book of constitutions must weight like a ton, ha :]

basically it says that every game, in which you're able to kill virtual people in a realistic manner is part of the main concept, is to be forbidden.

at least 85% of every game has this concept, and because games evolve, almost every game allows this in a realistic way. so if what this article says, to my understanding, they want to forbid all those games^^

the politicians enforcing this are reactionists and mediawhores trying to get attention by feeding the fears of uninformed citizens. they have no studies to back up what they shout.
Instead of going to the root of the proplem, bad education, crumbeling schoolsystem, cut-downs on youth-centers, they are just grasping for cheap publicity without having even once tested what they are talking about.
They are stupid cowards who would piss themselves if they had to address real problems.
It´s disgusting....

that's what i also thought at first, but it actually says "forbidden" in the article, and not censored.

Same thing. When you restrict your nations citizens to full information available.

is it? i thought censoring is "When you restrict your nations citizens to full information available" and forbidden is when you can actually be punished for owning the "information"?

Possibly true. In my eyes, it's still censorship, just with harsh consequences [jail time]. Similar situation in Ireland up until recently. Well still in effect today.

Ireland has a "censorship" department whose job it is, is to dictate what movies we can and can't watch.

Apart of their remit of age classifying certain films [Universal, Parental Guidance Sdvised, 12, 15, 18, etc] they also BAN some films. Most notable, "A clockwork Orange" and "Reservoir Dogs". It's only recently [past 10 or so] that it is legal to rent or sell these movies now.

The department is actually called "The Irish Film Classification Board" but even they call themselves censors sometimes.

I see it as the same thing. Restriction of information or ANYTHING is censorship. In my opinion SOME censorship is fine like how to make a nuclear bomb or how to kill someone by just thinking it Smile but where do you draw the line ad what's best for the country or blatant ignorance of the situation?

Shit only recently, it was passed in European Parliament that ISP's now have the right to block whatever the fook they want. MOST Irish European ministers voted for it. Only ONE voted against it. Ultimately the bill passed.

The end result, ISP's can legally block ANY internet application or protocol they want.
P2P - Fook it, it's gone if the ISP wants
If an ISP creates it's own Video streaming service, it may block Youtube etc.
If an ISP has it's own VoIP service, it may block other VoIP providers [I don't classify SKYPE as VoIP but most do.] Actually SKYPE is P2P so if they do away with P2P, bang goes SKYPE and actually many online games and legal distribution.
I THINK Irish authorities can now ask ISP's to monitor individual users to see if they are using their connection illegally WITHOUT a court warrant.

It's MIND BOGGLING the incompetence of our elected officials. Restricting our rights in an ignorant, blinkered view of tight and wrong but not even knowing what IS right or wrong, regardless of the consequences.

Anywho.... In Mr. W's words. They are all a shower CandyMen. The Bastards.

I agree totally. More and more eyes are watching down on us as the days pass. A time will come when we can't even slag off Candymen anymore because minorities will be protected by Dontslaghimbecausehewillgetoffendednowgotojailitise™
