 HL2:CTF News: HL2CTF 1.75 OPEN PLAYTEST

HL2:CTF News The playtest is ready for this weekend and your link to download it is found below!

January 17 (Saturday) & 18 (Sunday), we will have all day play testing of our newest version of CTF. One server will be in match mode between the hours of 14:00 – 17:00 EST. Anyone who wants to compete can join this server--first come, first serve. We plan to have at least 4 play-test servers with at least 52 slots in total.

Once all the play testing is done you will recieve an email with a link to a questionnaire so we can compiled your questions, comments, suggestions, criticisms, etc. Again, your input is immensely important so please let us know what YOU think! All play-test servers will record play and use it for the coming promotional video so wear your best clothes and smile for the camera!

What does the latest release offer? More balance, levels the playing field which leads to more competitive play! New Maps! New Models! New Weapons! Gibs! Flag in Hand...And more!

This playtest release is not to be installed as an upgrade!

As always, backup anything you may have saved in your /sourcemods/hl2ctf175 folder and then delete the folder. Then extract the new hl2ctf175_PT1j.zip into your /sourcemods folder and make sure your archive utility is set to extract with folders as the archive contains the /hl2ctf175 folder.

HL2:CTF News Half-Life 2: Capture the Flag Enters Final Testing

After more than a year of only small bursts of progress, the remaining development team has found their way clear to compile the final beta and have submitted it for playtesting.

For those who had the opportunity to playtest the beta 1.72 release which never made it past playtesting, many of the game features have been retained in the 1.75 playtest release. The following is an edited version of those never revealed features from the changelog:

NEW MAP ENTITIES:

item_battery_large
ctf_banner_small

*Chargers have been disabled and game health has been balanced by the addition of a "mega battery."

SERVER CVARS:

violence_hgibs toggles gibs. 0 = off, 1 = on (default is 1)
ctf_excessive 0/1 - toggles gamemode excessive. *See Below
ctf_instagib "weapon_name" - enables gamemode instagib. *See Below
ctf_dynamicgrenades toggles whether grenade color will change when picked up by a opposite team.
tv_allow_static_shots auto director uses fixed level cameras for shots.
tv_allow_camera_man auto director allows spectators to become camera man.

CLIENT CVARS:

hud_crosshair_r sets crosshair red (RGB) color. (0-255)
hud_crosshair_g sets crosshair green (RGB) color. (0-255)
hud_crosshair_b sets crosshair blue (RGB) color. (0-255)
hud_crosshair_a sets crosshair alpha. (0-255)
cl_fov replaces "fov" command - saves fov between 75 and 120 and reloads on every map.

EVENTS:

ctf_flag_drop - Called everytime a player drops the flag.

GAME MODES:

ctf_excessive enables a crazy and fun game mode as detailed below:

* Useable weapons: Melee, 357, SMG1, Alyxgun, AR2, OICW, Shotgun, Crossbow, Sniper Rifle, RPG
* Spawn with 300/300 and have passive 10 armor/sec and 5 health/sec regen.
* Self damage is lowered to 30% and force caused by explosions is increased.
* Each kill grants a killer with additional 50 armor and 50 health.
* No items spawned and Ammo is unlimited (no combine balls).
** This cvar can NOT be used together with areanamode! ctf_arenamode must be at 0.
** This mode is only available in pro mode meaning ctf_promode has to be set to 1.

ctf_instagib "weapon_name" will cause that weapon to become a 1 hit kill as detailed below:

* Example: ctf_instagib weapon_rpg makes RPG 1 hit kill (defaults to crossbow)
* List of weapons: weapon_357, weapon_crossbow, weapon_crowbar, weapon_pistol, weapon_shotgun,
weapon_frag, weapon_ar2, weapon_smg1, weapon_ctf_oicw, weapon_ctf_sniper, weapon_physcannon,
weapon_ctf_alyxgun, weapon_slam, weapon_rpg, weapon_stunstick
* All other items & weapons are removed in instagib. The weapon chosen for instagib has infinite ammo.
** This cvar can NOT be used together with areanamode. ctf_arenamode must be at 0.
** This mode is only available in pro mode meaning ctf_promode has to be set to 1.

FEATURES:

Spectator is now like HL2DM where there is a spectator menu. Press +duck key to bring it up.
Players will now take screenshots (to the normal /screenshots directory) of the endgame scores automatically if ctf_matchmode is on.
Force player models to use male05 for Rebels and metro police for Combine

CHANGES:

Prepflagpass now makes the user run the following command: say_team Tossing flag from $L $H $A
Further enhancements to player movement.
Spectator is now like in HL2DM. There is a spectate menu to toggle.
Lowered amount of health gained using drain rune.
Scores now show in spectator. But ONLY scores, no captures / assists / returns / ping.
ctf_powerups now removes/respawns runes in real-time when changed via RCON

The game name will now reflect game cvars in server browser as follows:

* ctf_arenamode 1 - "CTF 1.75 Arena"
* ctf_excessive 1 - "CTF 1.75 Excessive"
* ctf_instagib <wpn> - "CTF 1.75 Instagib"
* All 3 at 0 - "CTF 1.75 Pro"
* ctf_promode 0 - "CTF 1.75 HL2DM"

 HL2:CTF News: New MGL 4v4 Tournament opens for HL2CTF

HL2:CTF News Ca$hworks are proud to announce that we are participating in the MGL 4v4 Pick Em Tournament. The first match starts on Saturday 19th April 2008 and continues until 11th Match.

Thanks to everyone at My Gaming League for organising one of the most exciting tournaments for the most exciting mod, HL2CTF.

Matches that Ca$hworks are playing in are listed here.

If you are interested in taking part in this tournament and have a team, just sign up at the MGL site and register for the tournament. If you would like to play and don't have a team, contact us and we may have one or two spaces for you.

HL2:CTF News Here are the first pics of the new 1.75 release.
ILL just posted them over at the HL2:CTF forums.

The new version will support gibs, new flag models, new weapon models, and one handed flag and weapon holding.

 HL2:CTF News: HL2:CTF now working with HL2:DM only!!

For all of you who had problems with getting kicked of CTF servers for "not owning this game", a Valve employee posted a fix in the HL2:CTF Forums. The fix is uploaded to both [C$W] servers. (1.7 and 1.71) Players with only HL2:DM should now be able to play without any problem. Have fun!

Hi-

My name is Mike Durand and I work for Valve.

I've found a solution to this problem and I am going to fix this problem in the engine but here is a server-side workaround in case anyone is interested:

Create a steam.inf file in your mod's root directory (where the gameinfo.txt is) on the server. Place only this entry in it:

appID=215

Please note that 320 would work too.

So without the added steam.inf when the server makes its calls to the Steam back-end for authentication of clients it is passing along the default value of 220, which is the app ID HL2 single player. And so if the user doesn't own HL2 then they fail authentication and they are disconnected.

Sorry for the inconvenience that this bug has caused and feel free to contact me if this solution doesn't work for you.
